It was reported to Vanderbilt Police that an attempted robbery occurred at Kensington and 25th Avenue South on 02-26-06 between 1:25 and 1:40 a.m. The victim, a student, reported that she was approached by an unknown subject who demanded her purse. The suspect grabbed the victim's purse and began dragging her on the ground. A witness to the incident threw a beverage on the suspect and then began hitting him on the back. The suspect was unsuccessful in his attempt to take the purse and was last seen fleeing the area in a green Ford Explorer towards West End Avenue.

Suspect Description: Male white, 20 - 24 years old, 6'0", sandy blonde hair, last seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and a white ball cap.

• If strangers approach, maintain a distance and be observant; if they are in a vehicle, get the license plate number.
• Lock doors and windows of your room/building. Don't prop open doors, thwart security measures, or let strangers in.
• Avoid going to ATM's alone, after dark, or if suspicious persons are nearby.
• Think ahead about what you would do under dire circumstances. Try to get a description.
