SECURITY
ALERT Aggravated Assault
At approximately 3:00 am on
April 28, VUPD received a report of shots being fired in Lot 3 (near Kissam
Quad). An investigation of the incident revealed that the suspect shot
at the victim, a student, who was sitting in his vehicle. The victim said
the shooting occurred after he and the suspect, whom he recognized, exchanged
words from their vehicle. The suspect got out of his vehicle and retrieved
what is believed to be a handgun from his trunk. Shortly afterward, he
fired shots at the victim's car. Both the student and the suspect immediately
fled the scene in their vehicles. No one was injured in this incident.
VUPD has obtained an arrest
warrant for the suspect, who is unaffiliated with the university.
