It was reported to Vanderbilt Police that an armed robbery occurred in Lot 11 (near Jacobs Hall) at approximately 12:10 am on May 1. The victim, a student, reported that he was in his vehicle and about to shut the door when the suspect grabbed the door, pointed a handgun at him and demanded a ride. The victim offered the suspect money. The suspect then demanded the victim's wallet. After taking the wallet, the suspect fled the area on foot towards Branscomb Quad. The victim drove to an area of safety and contacted Vanderbilt Police. A search of the area was conducted with negative results.

Suspect Description: Male black, 25-35 years old, 5'10", 170 -180 pounds, black hair brown eyes, last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.

• Lock doors and windows of your room/building. Don't prop open doors, thwart security measures, or let strangers in.
• Avoid going to ATM's alone, after dark, or if suspicious persons are nearby.
• Think ahead about what you would do under dire circumstances. Try to get a description.
