Vanderbilt Police Department officers arrested William Arnell at approximately 9:40 pm on August 25th. William Arnell is suspect #1 in the Crime Alert.

Richard Simmons, suspect #2, was arrested at 1:05 am on August 26th.

Both suspects were arrested on felony theft charges. Further charges for suspect #1 will be determined after consultation with the District Attorney's Office.

SECURITY ALERT Rape

It was reported to Vanderbilt Police that a rape occurred during the early morning hours of Friday August 25, 2006. The victim, a student, stated she and her roommate met two male subjects at a club downtown. The two male subjects accompanied both of the students back to their residence hall room. While in the residence hall room, the victim was raped by one of the male subjects. Immediately afterward, the victim left the room. While walking back to her room, she saw the subjects getting on the elevator. Upon entering her room, she noticed a laptop computer, digital camera, and cash were missing.

Suspect Description:

Suspect #1 Male black, 22-25 years old, 5'9" - 5'10", 185-190 pounds, has a small scar on his left cheek, brown eyes. The suspect was wearing a black t-shirt with a white dragon and lettering on it and blue jeans. The suspect said his first name is "Arnell."

Suspect #2 Male black, 22-23 years old, 5'9" - 5'10", 190-195 pounds, low cut black hair, brown eyes. The suspect was wearing an orange polo shirt and dark jeans upon entering the residence hall and a black tank top and jeans upon leaving. The suspect said his first name is "Julian."

Vehicle Description:
Dark navy blue sedan possibly a Honda.
