CRIME ALERT - Assault

It was reported to this department that an assault occurred at approximately 10:10 pm on 21st Avenue South near Wilson Hall. The victim, a student, reported that while walking on the sidewalk at 21st Avenue South between Wilson Hall and Kissam Quad she passed a dark green van stopped on the side of the road. As she walked past the van, the suspect exited the van via the sliding passenger area door. The suspect grabbed the victims arm and attempted to pull her towards the van. The victim struggled with the suspect and was able to pull away from him. During the struggle the victim was struck in the face by the suspect. The victim fled to the interior of campus and proceeded to a place of safety. The suspect was last seen driving southbound on 21st Avenue south. The victim did not request medical treatment.


Case Status: The Vanderbilt Police Department is investigating this incident.

Suspect Description: Suspect #1 Male black, last seen wearing tan pants.
Vehicle Description: Dark green mini van with a sliding door on the side.
