CRIME ALERT - Robbery

It was reported to Vanderbilt Police Department that a robbery occurred near campus in the 17th Avenue South and Horton Avenue area. The incident occurred at approximately 3:09 am on September 24th. The victim, a student, reported that he had parked his vehicle on Horton Avenue between 17th Avenue South and 18th Avenue South. He was walking to campus when someone yelled at him. When the victim turned around, a suspect was pointing 2 guns at him and demanded that he remove the contents of his pockets, including the car keys. The suspect then walked the victim back to the victim's vehicle. Several individuals in an older model, full-sized, white, 4-door vehicle were also in the area and shouted for the suspect to make the victim run. As the victim fled the area, the suspect drove away heading east in the victim's vehicle.

The victim flagged down a passing motorist and used a cell phone to call 911. The victim was also able to flag down a officer shortly afterwards. The vehicle was recovered at 13th Avenue South and Horton Avenue after a Metro unit stopped the vehicle. The suspects fled the area on foot and remain at large.

Metro Nashville Police Department did the report on this incident. A detailed suspect description is not available at this time.

Case Status: The Metro Nashville Police Department is investigating this incident.
