Account
holders should test their alarm systems periodically to ensure that
they are operating properly. In order to test your alarm, the following
steps should be taken:
-
Call
the VUPD Communications Center at 32(2-2745).
-
Tell
the Communications Specialist that you would like to test your alarm
system. You should be ready to provide your name, alarm account
number, and location.
-
Once
the Communication Specialist informs you that it is ok to test your
alarm system, hang up the telephone and begin the system test.
-
Typically
a system test will require that you arm your system and trip any
contacts, PIRs, panic buttons, etc. Once you have done this you
can disarm your system.
-
Call
the VUPD Communications Center at 32(2-2745).
-
Once
again provide your name, alarm account number, and location. Inform
the Communications Specialist that you are finished with your test.
The Communication Specialist should be able to tell you if they
received any alarms from your area.
