SECURITY ALERT Robbery

It was reported to this department that a robbery occurred at 2201 Children's Way, Stallworth Rehab Hospital, on December 3 at 8:46 pm. The victim, not affiliated with Vanderbilt, reported that she was approached by two male black subjects while she was changing a headlight on her vehicle. The subjects brandished a hand gun and demanded the victim's car. The victim immediately called VUPD after the suspects had left in her vehicle.

VUPD officers made contact with the vehicle and were able to follow it for a short distance before backing off for public safety concerns. The vehicle was recovered at 12th Ave and Argyle. The suspects had fled area. The gun, which was believed to be used in the robbery, was found in the car and was in fact a bb gun. The victim was not injured in this incident and the investigation is ongoing.

Suspect Description:
Suspect #1 Male black, 5'10" to 5'11", 150 - 160 lbs., black stocking cap, tan coat, plaid shirt (Black, Green, and Beige), jeans (regular fitting). Approximately 16-17 years of age.

Suspect #2 Male black, 5'10" to 5'11", approximately 200 lbs, afro style hair, hair color black, wearing a solid black loose fitting jogging suite. Approximately 14 - 16 year of age. Voice was high in the stages of changing from adolescent to teenage.

  • Ask for an officer to meet & escort you from your parking space.)
  • Scan the area before you exit or approach your vehicle/building and while you proceed between sites.
  • Have your key ready in hand to quickly access the door of your vehicle/building.
  • If strangers approach, maintain a distance and be observant; if they are in a vehicle, get the license plate number.
  • Lock doors and windows of your room/building. Don't prop open doors, thwart security measures, or let strangers in.
  • Avoid going to ATM's alone, after dark, or if suspicious persons are nearby.
  • Think ahead about what you would do under dire circumstances. Try to get a description.
