SECURITY ALERT Robbery

It was reported to this department that a robbery occurred on January 30, 2005 at 10:14 p.m. in the 18th Avenue South and Edgehill area. The victims, two students, reported that as they were walking south on 18th Avenue near the Edgehill intersection they were approached by an unknown subject. The subject demanded one of the victim's money and cell phone. After the victim handed over the money, the suspect told both victims to walk away stating that if they didn't he would shoot them. The suspect was last seen heading north bound on 18th Avenue. A search of the area was conducted with negative results. Neither victim was injured in this incident. A weapon was not visible during this incident.

Suspect Description: Male black, 5'8", 180 pounds, black hair, brown eyes, unshaven. The suspect was last seen wearing black metal frame glasses and a grey hooded jacket with light blue sleeves.

  • Ask for an officer to meet & escort you from your parking space.)
  • Scan the area before you exit or approach your vehicle/building and while you proceed between sites.
  • Have your key ready in hand to quickly access the door of your vehicle/building.
  • If strangers approach, maintain a distance and be observant; if they are in a vehicle, get the license plate number.
  • Lock doors and windows of your room/building. Don't prop open doors, thwart security measures, or let strangers in.
  • Avoid going to ATM's alone, after dark, or if suspicious persons are nearby.
  • Think ahead about what you would do under dire circumstances. Try to get a description.
