SECURITY ALERT Forcible Fondling

On December 5, 2005, it was reported to VUPD that a forcible fondling occurred at The Corner Bar, located at 2200 Elliston Place, and again near Kissam Quad between 11:30 p.m. on December 3rd and 3 a.m. on December 4th. The victim, a student, reported that she attended a party at The Corner Bar late on the evening of December 3rd. At the party she was approached by the suspect, who at some point during the encounter forcibly fondled her. The victim left the party with friends. The suspect walked with the victim and her friends to the Kissam Quad area. The suspect then forcibly fondled the victim again. The victim then went to an area of safety.

Suspect Description: Male white, in his 20s, 5'8" to 6'0", 200 pounds, short blond hair. The suspect was last seen wearing a green, long sleeve, plaid flannel shirt, and blue jeans.

  • Stay alert and TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS -- If you feel uneasy, leave. 
  • On or off campus, walk/jog/bike in groups of three or more in well-lighted and well-traveled areas; otherwise, after dark on campus, use the ESCORT SERVICE. (NOTE: Before parking on campus after dark, stop by the Police & Security Building at 2800 Vanderbilt Place or the ER.
  • Ask for an officer to meet & escort you from your parking space.)
  • Scan the area before you exit or approach your vehicle/building and while you proceed between sites.
  • Have your key ready in hand to quickly access the door of your vehicle/building.
  • If strangers approach, maintain a distance and be observant; if they are in a vehicle, get the license plate number.
  • Lock doors and windows of your room/building. Don't prop open doors, thwart security measures, or let strangers in.
  • Avoid going to ATM's alone, after dark, or if suspicious persons are nearby.
  • Think ahead about what you would do under dire circumstances. Try to get a description.
