December 16, 2005 VUPD# 05-53184 MNPD# 05-682958

On December 16, 2005 at 4:53 pm it was reported that an attempted robbery occurred at Lot 63, located on 24th Avenue South by Featheringill Hall. The victim, a student, reported that he initially saw the suspect walking south on 24th Avenue. The victim got into his vehicle parked in Lot 63. The suspect opened the back door and got into the vehicle. The victim exited the vehicle and began to flee the area. The suspect tried to command the victim to stop and give him his money. The victim continued to flee to an area of safety. It is not known if the suspect had a weapon. A search of the area was conducted with negative results.

Suspect Description: Male black, in his early 20's, slender/medium build, dark complexion. The suspect was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt with a hood or possibly a hat and black pants.

• Ask for an officer to meet & escort you from your parking space.)
• Scan the area before you exit or approach your vehicle/building and while you proceed between sites.
• Have your key ready in hand to quickly access the door of your vehicle/building.
• If strangers approach, maintain a distance and be observant; if they are in a vehicle, get the license plate number.
• Lock doors and windows of your room/building. Don't prop open doors, thwart security measures, or let strangers in.
• Avoid going to ATM's alone, after dark, or if suspicious persons are nearby.
• Think ahead about what you would do under dire circumstances. Try to get a description.
