Associate Vice Chancellor & Chief of Police August Washington directs  and is responsible for the control of all police department operations in accordance with ordinances, policies and regulations of the Metro government and the University. The Associate Vice Chancellor & Chief of Police reports to the Vice Chancellor for Administration. The Associate Vice Chancellor & Chief of Police exercises direct supervision over the Assistant Chiefs of Police, the Director of Finance and Administration, the Executive Officer and the Senior Executive Secretary.

As Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief of Police for Vanderbilt University, I am proud of our state certified police officers, community service officers, and support staff, who have demonstrated a personal commitment to providing a professional and effective service oriented law enforcement agency. Senior Executive Assistant

Cora Mitchell manages the day to day operations of the Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief of Police. In addition to managing the Chief’s busy schedule, the Senior Executive Secretary plans major departmental functions, manages special projects for the Chief of Police, and serves as photographer for departmental events. Cora has been with Vanderbilt since 2003 and with the Vanderbilt University Police Department since 2006.
